Ethics and morals, part I.

I wanted to write a series of articles about ethics and moral values, dwelling on why they exist, what is their use and how they affect us. Just now I’m a little pressed for time, so I’m going to make a basic summary of what is Judaism and what is Christianism, so all us can have some clearer ideas on the subject. It is important to understand the basis (not the details, the basis) of judeochristian morals, because it’s one of the three great roots of Western civilization:

Saying it quick and dirty, there it goes:

Judaism, ethics in beta version:

“Don’t piss off your neighbour”.

2.0 Version , by Jesus of Nazareth:

“Besides not pissing off your neighbour, lend a hand!”

As long as I have enough time I will explain it step by step and detail by detail. Beware with this, this is the theory. What has been done in practice is totally different, OK? As Gandhi said: “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ”.

Inauguration.

May 7, 2006

Hi there everyone. My name is Isabel Maria Guzman, and I am a newbie freelance trying to make a living out of it. I can be hired as illustrator, translator (Spanish-English, English-Spanish), writer and essayist. I have a blog in Livejournal, and I used to make bilingual entries, but when my articles got longer and longer, I started posting them in Spanish only.

Now I am interested in proving my knowledge of Shakespeare’s language, and have therefore decided to start translating the articles I wrote in my Spanish blog. I may change some things if I consider they improve the article, since I not only want to prove my translating ability, but my writing capacity as well.

Why is this blog called G & G, then? Well, my husband will write here sometime too, or will collaborate with some of the articles. He is Jose Gallardo, and since I am Isabel Guzman, we chose G & G as the name of our shared blog.

I hope you’ll find interesting information here. If you want to see my illustrations, you can find my illustration page at the right side of this page.

Enough said, and welcome everyone!

Isabel

P.D: All my writings and illustrations are properly registered at Safecreative.org. I may have time to put the proper label or not in each and every entry, but you can rest assured that I have proof they are mine. Even if you think the entry does not appear in my register list, it may be registered privately, or I might have just registered the Spanish version and you may have not recognized the title. Not that I consider my texts interesting enough to attract any plagiarism attempt… but just in case ;-)
